Welcome to Velo City Cycles
Velo City Cycles has been a fixture on the West Michigan cycling scene since 1998 but the shop’s history goes back way farther than that. Deeply ingrained in the Velo City DNA are the memories of The Highwheeler, Holland’s dominant shop of the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. The unfortunate demise of the ‘Wheeler in late 1997 lead directly to the birth of Velo City so there’s some merit to that whole “ya gotta break eggs to make an omelet” cliché!
But now it’s 2010 and we’re looking forward, not back. The shop’s mission is to advance the sport of cycling and the state of bicycle retail with our blend of passion, knowledge and selection of cool products. You’ll find bikes, clothing and gear here for every rider from the beginner to the professional and everything is evaluated by our staff of dedicated riders to make sure it passes our “Best in Class” policy. (More on that later) You’ll find a good dose of bike culture here, mixed w/ a helping of irreverence and humor and w/out the “bike snobbery” that all too often accompanies fine equipment. Whether your goal is to ride across town or across the Sahara desert, to win the State Mountain Bike Championships or save a few bucks riding to work or to just enjoy the benefits of having a bike in your life…we’re here to help!
