Our Family

Hi there! We are the Whites (Brad, Jenny, Macen, Molly and Emma), owners of Velo City Cycles since 2013. Jenny and I both grew up with a love for cycling; whether it was recreational rides with our families, bombing around the neighborhood with friends, competing in triathlons or road races. Holland is Jenny's hometown, and when it came to starting a family, we loved what Holland had to offer. We love this community and are proud to be a small part of it.

We are commited to making our community a better place through the power of the bicycle. We've seen the bike bring people together throughout our lives. The bike offers life-changing pathways to better health, thrilling adventures, and meaningful connections. We want this for our community and our customers.

Our hope is that Velo City Cycles feels like your neighborhood bike shop. We offer many activities centered around kids, families and cyclists of all disciplines, speeds and abilities. We are able to support our community because of you. Thank you for shopping with us and we look forward to riding with you soon!

Velo History

In 2013 we purchased Velo City Cycles from Tom and Leon Slikkers. The shop was on 8th street in beautiful downtown Holland. We soon moved to River Avenue, just a few blocks south of downtown. We love Holland and being close to downtown, but also in one of Holland's many great neighborhoods.

When we bought the shop, we wanted to help grow the cycling community. We started hosting various types of cycling events for all, ranging from seasoned riders to new riders to families. Team Velo City Cycles, Urban Rides, Ice Cream Rides, Bike Races, Tuesday Night Ride, and The Bagel Ride brought people together. The power of the bicycle is incredible.

We believe a bike can change a life, giving someone the opportunity to explore and be outside, encouraging healthy and enjoyable exercise, and granting the ability to get to work and school. This gift of cycling is so important to us that Jenny (co-owner) founded Velo Kids, a non-profit dedicated to getting all kids on bikes by teaching bike skills, safety, and stewardship through engaging programs and events. You can find out more about Velo Kids here.
