SERVICE ASSOCIATE 

The Service Associate has the primary responsibility of creating and maintaining a service department that delivers high quality bike service to each customer in a safe and clean space. This person will accurately diagnose service needs, provide on-target estimates and sell service and service products through deep knowledge of bicycle repair and maintenance. The service team drives sales through service, exceeds customer expectations and sells the sport of cycling. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

  • Responsible for all work done on bicycles.
  • Assemble new bicycles and install accessories on bicycle. 
  • Schedule and write up efficient and accurate service analyses, diagnoses, and estimates.
  • Advise customers on appropriate maintenance procedures and potential upgrades. 
  • Responsible for assisting the Service Manager in training new mechanics hired to ensure continuity across the department. 
  • Stay up-to-date with new products and technical developments in the cycling industry. 
  • Ensure cleanliness of the Service Department / Storage Area within the store. 
  • Assist in selling merchandise to customers. 
  • Abide by the Velo City Cycles policies, procedures, and processes. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have bike shop service department experience or similar. 
  • Interest in working in an environment committed to providing a superior sales and service experience while increasing sales through service.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills: clear, concise, and positive. 
  • Demonstrates personal effectiveness and interest in developing own skills and knowledge.
  • Proven problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends) 
  • Can lift 50 LBS.
