What We Sell
Here’s the thing……..it seems like a lot of shops that we see now ‘days seem to be awfully eager to be defined and identified by the stuff that they sell. We think that the measure of a bike shop is way more that the stuff…it’s the folks that work there, the committement to the sport and the local cycling scene and whether you wanna hang out there or not. Now, having said that, we’re very proud of the products and companines that we’ve chosen to represent and wanted to give you a “peek behind the curtain” (so to speak) so you know where we’re coming from.
The main thing is that we have ZERO interest in being is a “Concept Shop”. This is the newest trend in our biz and we think it’s kind of lame. Basically it means gettin’ in bed w/ one of the BIG companies and doing what they say and carryin’ all their stuff whether you dig it or not. Bleecch! We sell the stuff that we believe in, not the stuff that makes our lives easy, makes us more profit or appeases our sales reps. In other words……we shop like you shop-for the best stuff, regardless of where it comes from.
We look at it this way……If everyone around had their lives together we’d all shop for groceries differently than most of us do, right? If you had the time you’d go to the Farmer’s Market for produce, to the best bakery in town for bread, the butcher shop for meat and down to the dock for fish, don’cha think? But most of us don’t, so we go to Meijer’s or Family Fare. Not to ‘dis them, but we all know that the reason you go there is to get it done, not ‘cuz it’s the best way to get EVERYTHING you need. Well……that’s how we stock our shop. We take the time to deal w/ lots of different and quite often smaller companies, most of which are passionate and focused on a much smaller piece of the pie than the big boys. That’s why they make the best stuff and that’s why we have ‘em here.
Simple as that.
You’ll see brands here that you don’t see everywhere and that’s because doin’ it our way is more work, but that’s okay by us ‘cuz it gives us the type of product mix that we can believe in and get behind. We use the stuff we stock and stock the stuff we use. Pretty simple really. We’re always testing potential new products, be it tires, shorts, saddles…whatever! If you see it here in our shop it’s beciause we tried it, we liked it and we’re comfortable recommending it to you! True story.
